Electreggs!

Our first assignment was to shoot eggs, which seemed kind of boring but I ended up really enjoying it quite a bit. They catch light quite beautifully and these simple little guys just seem so quiet and contained. Great fun for tonal studies!

These are my first shots from studio lighting. The museum where I am interning was generous enough to let me borrow a few electron tubes to shoot for class. I kind of thought they looked like a little family. Working in the studio feels like a nice break after hauling my view camera up and down mountains all over the place. These actually turned out much better than I expected. It does however feel a bit strange shooting indoors with artificial lighting. I still haven't quite shifted my brain into that kind of world of luminance.

  1. love those tube pics. they seem to suck the light out of the air. and as far as egg pictures go, those are really really nice.
